Nuna6

Nuna6 raced the World Solar Challenge 2011 in 33 hours and 50 minutes. The average speed along the complete race was 88,60 km/h. Doing this, they obtained a silver medal.

The weight of Nuna6 is the lightest so far, with 145kg. That’s around 15kg lighter than its predecessor! Besides that the vehicle had an aerodynamic resistance which was 10% lower than Nuna5’s.

One significant development compared to previous Nuna’s was the use of new Formula One-grade carbon fibres. This resulted in the weight reduction.

Next to this Nuna was the first to have a mobibox, a central computer with which all electronics could be controlled. Not only did this reult in optimised communication between the convoy and Nuna, it also reduced weight and optimised the efficiency of the electronic system.
