Nuna, the first Dutch solar car, finished the 3021 km race in 32 hours and 39 minutes. The average speed was 91.8 miles per hour.
It took three years to establish the car. Ramon Martinez and Tim Lange began with the design of the car in the winter of 1999 and in 2001 she appeared at the start of the World Solar Challenge. With the first partaking of Delft University of Technology in the challenge, Nuna won the world championship in Australia.
Nuna weighed 280 kg and had an aerodynamics CdA which was slightly below 0.1. Since then these factors are optimised with each new Nuna, resulting in more efficient energy usage.
