First Australian test drive approaching fast

19-09-2011 / First Australian test drive approaching fast

Teamwork

One by one the drivers are called out to Nuna6 to determine where the display can be fitted and to check whether the seat is comfortable or not. The Nuna6 cockpit is almost done, ready for the first test drive on Australian soil. Slowly it comes to me: we are now really about to drive!

For the past few days the team has been working very hard on the car, the todo list is shrinking rapidly and many teammembers are busy helping others as their tasks have already been completed. Teamwork is the keyword, it is amazing to see how the team works like a well oiled piece of machinery

Alomst there

The car is almost done, meetings about the testing schedule are held and the roles during the race are divided amongst the teammembers. Slowly the race is coming closer, or actually, time is going very fast. Four weeks might seem like a long time, but we have noticed before how fast time can run out and there is still plenty to test. Luckily the first step is taken, the Australian Road Authority has granted Nuna6 access to the public road. Since we already underwent a test by the Dutch RDW, we felt confident that the Australian test would not form any kind of problem.

Thursday is the day on which we will be using our ‘road permit’ for the very first time, then we will take Nuna6 out for a testdrive on the public Cox Peninsula Road. All three of the drivers will get the chance to feel what it is like to drive in the blistering sun of Australia. I am looking forward to that moment and with me the other drivers are as well, with us the real racing feeling is now really emerging.
