Together with Rein van der Einde, a small part of our team went to The Hague to attend a demonstration in front of the Ministery of Education, Culture and Science. The demonstration was initiated by an organization called ‘Minimaal Nominaal’ , their plan was to deliver over 100.000 signatures and a bundle of letters containing the experience from students with a study delay.
The meeting is a response to the plans of the government to let students with a delay of more than one year pay a fine. The plans are to increase the education fee for students with 3000 euro per year, and increase the contribution of the university with the same amount.
Because of our participation in the Nuon Solar Team, all team members have an education delay of (at least) 1,5 years. Therefore the demonstration is also important for our team and we wanted to support the demonstration with help of the Nuna 5 car. The state secretary has seen our car and we hope that he will realize that it would be unfortunate if student projects like this will not have a chance in the future because of these new regulatory.
